Are you a woodwind, brass, percussion, or string bass player? If so, join the Concert Band and keep playing whilst at university in a fun, active and sociable band!
About us
Established in 1990, the Strathclyde University Concert Band is comprised of current students, staff, and alumni of the university, as well as students from other institutions. Under the musical direction of conductor Chris Mitchell, the band has grown in recent years and has won a number of high awards at the Scottish Concert Band Festival and the National Concert Band Festival along with presenting several concerts a year across the Greater Glasgow area. We accept woodwind, brass, percussion and string bass players.

Last year's highlights:
In March, we held our first Band Camp since the pandemic, travelling to Dounans Centre in Aberfoyle for a weekend of rehearsals, dancing and late night karaoke. Thanks to everyone who came along - we hope you had as much fun as the committee did! A big thank you to the Alumni Fund and Strathclyde Union who helped us fund the trip - very much appreciated as all players greatly improved over the course of the weekend!
We went on to hold our first joint concert in over two years with our friends at the Strathclyde University Jazz Orchestra on 31st March. It was brilliant to get back playing to an audience again - thank you to everyone who attended! The evening was recorded, and the film is now available further down this page.
After the examination period, we held our Summer concert, again with our friends at the Strathclyde University Jazz Orchestra, on Sunday 29th May. This evening was again recorded, and will be available in due course.
Band will soon be starting back for the 22/23 academic year and we look forward to seeing players old and new when we return in September!
