Level 1, Strath Union
The 16 Days of Action is an annual international campaign to end gender-based violence. Every year we take part in 16 Days campaign which starts on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until December 10th, Human Rights Day.
As part of the 16 Days of Action, on Thursday 28th November, we will be marching through Glasgow to demand action to make our streets safer and show solidarity with survivors of rape and sexual assault. You can find more information about the 16 Days and march route here.
In the lead up to the march, we are hosting a banner making session on level 1 of the Union. This is an opportunity to have your voice heard and get your feelings out in a creative way - even if you can't make the march in person!
We will provide all creative materials, and organisers will be there to help brainstorm slogans and statements to put on your placards.
We understand that you might have questions or concerns about attending a demonstration, so alongside the banner making session we will have a drop-in information session with the organisers. Pop into the Voice Room if you have questions about your rights to protest, policing, and any other aspect of the demonstration or 16 days. If you'd rather read up about it yourself, we suggest taking a look at SCALP's resources here.
