Campaigning has been a core part of holding the powerful to account, and changing the way our society works, for centuries. Some of the biggest injustices have only been confronted because some people came together to form a campaign for justice.Time and time again, students have played a vital role in social justice movements. In 2024, across the world, students continue to harness their power to build a better future, campaigning on topics from climate justice to the cost-of-living crisis, unfair marking criteria and policies, divestment, and decolonising the curriculum.
Students are often campaigning with limited time and energy. In this session we'll learn about how to design an impactful campaign strategy to save time and increase your efficiency!
A good plan for a campaign is flexible, tolerates grey areas and uncertainties – a strategy helps us to think clearer, it is not there to create rigid plans that can’t be changed, or to create a distraction from delivery by creating dilemmas or roadblocks.
